Sarah Files from Wayne Co PA November 20, 1837 Age 81 years. States that Aaron died abt 1817. He enlisted from Orange Co. NJ and they were married Jan 1780. Her husband refused to go with the Army without her, so, she traveled with the Army, and was employed with the Army Cooking Etc. She states she met once with General Washington who asked her if she was not afraid of the Cannon Balls. She replied; "No the bullets would not cheat the Gallows - That it would not do for the men to fight + Starve Too"

In the Winter before the Army was disbanded, on the 20th of Feb, their first child, Phebe Osborn was born. One year and 5 months later, on the 9th day of Aug, Aaron Osborn Junior was born, both in New Windsor. Phebe married William Rochwell and moved to Tompkins Co NY. Aaron Osborn Jr Lived in Blooming Grove NY, where he had fits, and became a town charge, and died at the age of about 30.

She States that she saw her husband about a month after Aaron's birth in New Windsor, and then he left, and never returned. She understood that he was married again to Polly Sloat, above New Burgher, about 15 or 16 miles, and she was determined to know the truth. She rode out to the girl's father, and found her husband and Polly Sloat and ascertained that her husbad was married to said girl.. She remained one night, and determined to abandon her husband. She learned that her husband had married again, and had heard that he died about 20 years ago, in the Mohawk. Polly Sloat died dead Drunk.

She married John Benjamin in April, she thinks in the year 1787. John Died in 1827.

On June 23 1855 From Waynes Co PA she files for a Bounty Land Warrant She states She is 109 or 110 Years old, and her maiden name is Sarah Read.


On May 18th 1818 Aaron Osborn Age 74 Resident of Amsterdan of Montgomery Co NY sates that he enlisted from NJ, and was formerly from Gashen NY, and was discharged June 1783 in New Burgh NY.

On 16 nov 1852, from New Haven Co. CT Charles Perkins files in behalf of his son Henry A. Perkins, Grandchild of Abijah Osborn. Says that Abijah Died 1842 and Abijah's wife died 1844.

On 24 Nov. 1852, from Litchfield Co. CT, Electa Osborn, Says she is the daughter of Elizabeth Osborn, wife of Abijah Osborn. Abijah and Elizabeth married in June 1783. States that Abijah
died abt. Oct. 1844 and Elizabeth abt. Feb 1842.

On the 30 July 1832, from the District of Woodbury, Litchfield Co. CT, Abijah States he was born
20 April 1760 in Fairfield Co. CT, and was drafted into the Army in April 1780.

On Oct 1 1833 From the City of NY and the State of NY, Ithamar ( Ithamer) Osborn state that he
is 64 years old and is the brother of Abner Osborn, who is 72 years old. He has resided in the City since 1794 and Abner has resided there for 35 years. He says that Abner entered in the service of the Militia of Elizabethtown NJ, abt Aug 1776. Abner Carried his Father's old fashioned Duck Gun, and that Abner took a British Soldier prisoner and obtained his Bright Musket.

On Sept 4 , 1832 , from the Borough of Elizabeth Essex Co. NJ, Abner states that he is 70 years old. In June of 1778 as a resident of Connecticut Farms, in the Township of Union, county of Essex, State of NJ, at 16, He volunteered in the infantry NJ Militia, under Capt Stephen Chander and Major Halsted, in the Regiment commanded by Col. Samuel Potter, and Gen Winy. He was born April 16, 1762 in Connecticut Farms, Union Township, Essex Co. NJ.

On Aug 5, 1833, He says he was born Dec 21, 1755 in East Hampton Long Island. The first time he entered the service from East Hampton NY. The second time he entered from East Haddan CT. The 3rd, 4th , and 5th time, he entered the service from the town of Simsbury, now Granby, CT.

On May 10 th 1846 Abraham makes an Application again.
Abraham Died between May 17 and July 27 1846.

On July 31, 1832 , from Howell, Monmouth Co. NJ, Abraham files for a pension.
He is 80 years old. He entered the service in early summer of 1778 in Col Daniel Hendrick's Regiment. And was promoted to 1st Lt. He was taken prisoner by the Torries , but shortly made his escape.


On Aug 2, 1836, from Howell, Monmouth Co. NJ, Elizabeth Osborn says she is the widow of Abraham Osborn, They were married on june 3, 1773 in Monmouth Co NJ. Abrahm Died on Feb. 16, 1835. She is 82 years, 11 months, and 23 days Old. Abraham Osborn, the fifth child of Abraham and Elizabeth Testifies to the identity of Elizabeth. He is 52 years old. He lists other Children as, Samuel Osborn 62, Oldest, Catharine Curtis, William Osborn, Deceased, Anna Havens, Jane Havens, Elizabeth Clayton, Deceased, and James Osborn

Abraham was born on April 29, 1752 in the Township of Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co. NJ.

On June 3 , 1833, From Tompkins Co NY, Abraham filed for his pension. He Resided in Minisink, Orange Co. NY, and he entered the service in the winter of 1775, under Capt John Wisner in Col. Haythorns Regiment. He was born in Morristown NJ,, cant say the year but he is 78.

On march 10, 1837 From Lenawee Co. MI , Abrahm states he resides with his son Samuel Osborn . Alvin Osborn says that Abraham is his Grandsire.

The information concerning the issuance of warrants carded on this form is found in volumes 2 to 4 " Land Warrants Issued Prior to 1800" which are registers of Bounty Land Warrents issued to non-commissioned officers and privates under congressional resolutions of September 16, 1776, and Subsequent dates. Other records relative to the Applications for warrants appear to have been destroyed in the War Department Fire of November 9, 1800. Information Conerning warrants surrendered to Fedreal Government is to be found in the General Land Office in the National Archives.

Isaac Osborn is 65 years old. He entered the Service Jan 1, 1779 in Company of William Barton in the MA Line. He had applied earlier, in the year 1818 from the County of Bradford PA. Was rejected for want of proof of service. His wife Anna is 66 years old. States he bought a horse in Bradford Co. PA, and rode it to Chautuque Co. NY, where he sold it to Ozias Osborn, but never received payment for it because Ozias was to poor to pay for it. His occupation is basket maker.

Lucy Patrick states she is the Daughter of Isaac. Henry died Feb 21, 1843 Leaving no Widow, and surviving children, Levi Osborn and Lucy Patrick.

He entered the service under his brother Enoch Osborn. He was born in the forks of the Yadkin River, Rowan Co. NC. He removed to the Hollow of Suury Co and resided in the Hollow a few years when his father removed to Montgomery Co. Now Grayson Co. Jonathan died April 11, 1834.

His age was five years older than hers, lacking about a month, he having been born in Feb and she in Jan. Heer Maiden name is Diana Warner. They resided in Salem about 14 years, then removed to Coldbrook, Litchfield Co CT for about 13 years, when they moved to Trumvull Co OH in about 1809. Childern:

He removed from Ridgefield to Catskill, Green Co ( Then Albany Co.) NY abt 1787, then to Meigs Co (Then Athens Co ) OH in 1815, Olive Township, untill recently when he removed to Chester Township. He has procured the testimony of Abijah Osborn of Watertown CT.
