I have traced my branch of the Ortega family to Nicolas De Ortega who arrived in Santa Fe in 1696. He was probably born in 1669. His parents are listed as Lorenzo Gomez and Maria Marmolejo in the book Origins of New Mexico Families by Fray Angelico Chavez. This connection does not make any sense, and I cannot find anything on Lorenzo Gomez or Maria Marmolejo. Can anyone enlighten me?
