Jim, it seems both of our lines start with John Ort, b. about 1765. His father was Jacob Ort and he had a sister Elizabeth. I have no record as to where he was from but will look in Lancaster Co.
Starting with John, my line is John Ort, Henry Ort (born 1791, m. Elizabeth Myers), Henry Kulp Ort (born 1833). Henry Kulp Ort married Mary Aurand. He died in the Civil War on June 6, 1865 in Washington DC. His widow applied for a pension on Aug 26, 1865 (I have a photocopy of the application). Her and her two children (Oliver and Frances) live in a house on the Ort property next to the Aurand property near Lewistown, Mifflin Co. Frances was my great grandmother and married Samuel Grimm. In 1890 the entire family (mother Mary, Oliver and his wife Viola, and Samuel and Frances and their children moved to Centralia, Washington. My grandfather Warren Ort Grimm was Samuel and Frances' second child and was born in Lewistown but grew up in Centralia. Samuel Grimm was born in Freeburg, Snyder Co. and taught at the Freeburg Academy before moving to Lewistown and marrying Frances Ort.
According to my records, Emma Ort's line was John (b. 1765), John (b. 1793 m. Elizabeth Beck), Henry (b. 1821 m. Hannah McCoy), Emma (b. 1860). I have Emma marrying William J. Montgomery but nothing more on her.
It seems we are distant cousins
