Hi again,
It was very hard doing genealogy way back when and there are sooooooo many Orser stories including the most famous about the "Baron from Holland."This was a whopper of a story that was repeated over and over for 100 years and half of all Orser's believed it 100%.
Keith C. Reynolds wrote a book "My Search For Identity" (he is deceased). If you can find a copy of it there is also a lot of Orser info (I have most of the Orser chapter)Debby and I met up several years back in Kingston and went to Picton and we found this book in the P.E Archives there. It tells another version of the Orser family as well as other familes.Another "story" is printed in this book about how the town of Sing Sing (current day Ossining) got it's name. This story (again, not true) says "in the evening when the work was all done on the plantation (there was no plantation) the "Orser" girls would sit in front of their homes and sing together"..."That is how Sing Sing came by its name." (from the Orser girls sing sing all the time)
There is mention in this book about Samuel B. Orser's youngest son, Charles, and his "boat house" in Georgia.I don't have a copy of the house that "is exactly like a ship" but I do remember seeing a picture of it (possibly in the book but I didn't copy it).Any way, this is another source to check out.
