This gets curiouser and curiouser...
The message shows that either we have the wrong Christiana; or Frank had the wrong information on them.
If it is the right Christiana; then she DID NOT die having Sarah Jane; but possibly another baby. And
perhaps several of the children that Frank has listed to other wives may belong to Christiana. or a first wife who died.
If the information on her death is correct; then it is
possible that two of the children are either hers or from Luther's first marriage and not hers.
Census data ages for two children bears out this possibility from another surname board person who has been helpful (a first wife who died having had two of these children), particularly due to Christiana's age at her marriage.
We only know that Sarah Jane would have been hers. The family story about the death in childbirth
would have had to have been with another baby.
Christiana Orser married Luther Emes 3 October 1857 by the Rev. William Hubert in Brantford Ontario. This information is from
"The Christian Messinger", "First in a series of Briths, Deaths and Marriages, copied from "The Christian Messinger" on Microfilm at MacMaster University.Copied by the members of the Hamilton Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society.
From the death notice data, that would make her born abt 1840 and age 15 when she married Luther Emes in 1855 and 17 in 1857.That is pretty young (15), though not impossible.I suppose the information in the death notice could be not quite correct?
Certainly she married in the FALL and NOT the WINTER.
And she MARRIED IN 1857 according to record and NOT 1855!
Frank's chart lists children of Luther to 2 other marriages:
Cora Emes married to Amos (may be his middle name)Brillinger and William Emes who had 7 children to a second
wife and Maud Emes who married ? Skinner (a cousin) and a baby who died at birth to a third wife.
Two different Emes line people have Luther Emes death as 1857 and 1867 respectively.I have no data from Frank as to the death date of Luther.Tricia (surname board) noted that census data shows the Emes' were misspelled as Enes
on one census, which may account for not finding them and hence not finding a death date for him.
I thank you for your information. It really raises more questions which will have to be answered and that more research needs to be done to verify all of the information involved.I think fifty years will not be enough!Back to the drawing board as they say.
Are there two Christiana Orser's who married Luther Emes?
Why wouldn't they know their marriage date?
I have been away at a funeral and hence not online for a few days; hence a late response.
