I am looking for a connection between the Southerland/Sutherland & Orrell/Orrel/Oriel's in NC & VA.
My family (the Southerland's) used the Name Oriel/Orrell/Orrel as a 1st name a lot and I am wondering if someone married an Orrell/ Orrel/ Oriel.
The name 1st turns up in Mordecai Southerland's Grandkids as Orrel and Polly Orrell. I am thinking that his daughter Mary "Polly" Southerland, MIGHT have had the middle name of Orrell. If so she may have been named after someone else in the family with that name. Mordecai's wife was Susannah ?, and I think that either har maiden name was Orrell/Orrel/Oriel or that her mother was named Mary "Polly" Orrell.
Mordecai Southerland was born about 1745 in Va and then moved to Orange Co, NC. Susannah was most likely born about 1750 in Va or the Orange Co area of NC. They where married about 1770 NC.
If anyone cane help me out I would love it!!!!!
