Here is some of the information that you need to compile and some places to look after that.
Is your father's name "Reginal" or "Reginald" (the second one is more usual spelling.)Accuracy is very useful in searches.
As a 'next of kin', you could apply to the Ontario Vital Statistics office for his birth or marriage or death certificate.http://www.vitalcertificates.ca/ontario/http://www.vitalcertificates.ca/ontario/(As a child of his, don't you have at least the death certificate?)
"pass on June 24, 1990" :does this mean his date of death?
The older he was, the more easy it is to find information. The 1911 census of Canada has been released and is searchable online athttp://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/
So if he was born before April of that year, he is likely to be in the census IF you know where he was born.
So what year was he born and where and what were his parents names and any older brothers and sisters? That would help you identify the correct family in the census. If he's not born before 1911, then his parents' names and siblings names will still help to find the family.
Where is he buried? There should be information filed with the cemetery, including a copy of the death certificate.
Did Viola Beatty-Whitmore-Orr-Richards marry again after your father's death? Is she still alive and could you ask her for information?Did she have any children who might have information from her marriage to your father?Where did they marry?Could you ask at the church, city hall, other venue for information?Or get the marriage certificate?
You need to put down every thing you know about your father and any of his family or your mother.Good luck with it.
The Ontario Genealogical Society might be a good starting point for you.You could learn where to search and how to get information. There are branches in most counties of Ontario.Go to http://www.ogs.on.ca/http://www.ogs.on.ca/
