Dear Mr. Ormerod;
I am writing this e-mail in response to a part of your
message RE: Ormerod's of Rossendale Lancashire that I find
interesting. Please let me introduce myself and explain my
inquiry. My name is Susan and I had great-grandparents who
lived near Lancashire and came to America in the late 1880's. Thet settled in Fall River, Massachusetts. They are
buried at Oak Grove cemetery there in Fall River. In the
cemetery plot where they are buried the cemetery records
list both of them--- James and Jane Heap and another name
Ormerod (only the last name). Usually a family plot will
only have family names on it. Some of the things you mentioned make me wonder if there is a connection between
them and James Ormerod. First,my great-grandfather was a policeman on the police force, so was James Ormerod.My great-grandfather was at the Manchester Police force. My great-grandmoter worked for a family in Rawenstall. I am
curious to know if the family Ormerod was related to my
great-grandparents in any way or if they were just friend.
My great-grandmother was a Hobbs before she married. Would
you have either the name Heap or Hobbs in your family tree? I know that both of them had siblings that came to
America and might have the name Ormerod in their backgrounds.
Thank-you for taking time to read this e-mail and I
look forward to hearing from you if you can be of any help, upon your convenience.
Sincerely your;
Susan Murray (Wynne)
