My grandmother was Katherine or Catherine Orloski/Orlowski. She was born in 1892 in the Galicia region of Poland and came to US/Ohio in 1904.We know very little about her but have a good closeup photo. Some of our paperwork lists Alsanicza, Poland which I believe is now Olszanica, Poland in the Lesko district. Her family had a large farm that was taken by the govt at some point. We also know she had a sister who became a Franciscan nun at age 14- Sister Blondyna in a convent near Chicago. I also have a photo of her.We do not know if there were other siblings. My grandmother married my grandfather Jan Szubelak, also listed from Alsanicza, Poland although we were told as kids that he was Ukrainian and that area of Poland has been under control by various countries over the decades. They married in Ohio in 1907 and lived in Campbell Ohio where my grandfather worked in the steel mills for 39 years. Their name somehow was changed to John Shabella and they had 6 children 4 boys-Joseph, William, Michael and Walter, and two daughters Caroline/Helen and Stephania/Stella.Grandma Kate died in 1946 as a result of an auto accident, she was 54 at the time. Since Belarus is also near this edge of Poland, perhaps we are related?
