Fellow Orrick/Orick/Arrick/Arick family members: As you know, researchers have been trying to connect branches of these families for decades. The DNA study is helping us do that. Today we have part of the first results. Hold on to your hat! Roger Arrick is the first study member. From the Warren Co TN Orricks, some of these became Arrick. These Orricks came from SC/NC through KY, down to TN, starting with Lewis Orrick (b 1770 in SC) Frank Orick is the second member and he is from the East TN Orick family starting with Benjamin Orick (b ~1760 in NC). Frank's first 12 markers (out of 37) are finished and Frank and Roger are a perfect match. Frank still has 25 markers to go but this likely means that the E-TN Oricks and the Warren TN Orricks are related. Lewis and Benjamin are possibly brothers. Finally we know that we are not barking up the wrong tree! The last 25 of Frank's markers will be ready in a couple of weeks which will make a stronger or weaker connection. There are currently 4 other members of the study and their results will be available 6 weeks after the lab receives their tests. This will tell us if we are connected back to the Maryland Orricks. Keep an eye on the activity log for more news: http://www.Arrick.com/family/dnaproject1.html We still need an Orrick from Pike Co Arkansas for the study. Congrats on all the new cousins found today!
