Joseph ORCHARD - NYC Baker - Late 1700's
Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone can broaden my knowledge of an ancestor called Joseph ORCHARD.
He was Superintendent of Bakers in NYC, and in July 1779 he bought a farm 'at Bloomingdale' from Brigadier-General DeLancey.
Out of the six children he is said to have had, I have located George Tryon ORCHARD born in 1780, and Elizabeth ORCHARD born in 1781 - both baptised in Trinity Church (their mother is known only as Ann). George was a Godson of NYC Governor William Tryon. Both married in London England in the early 1800's, as did an Ann ORCHARD, who is possibly another of the six children.
If anyone has details of this family, or even something of their existence in New York City, I would be most grateful.
Yours,
Trudy
