William Orange-Mothers or Fathers name

Looking for info on William Orange b.1915 possibly in Newcastle. It is said that he was born out of wedlock, and would like to find out if he took his mothers name or his fathers name. He had a brother lennord and a sister Alice but i do not know for sure if they had the same surname.
