Minerva Jane "Minnie" ORANGE was b. Apr 1899 in KY according to 1900 US Census for Butler Co, KY (Joseph A. ORRANGE, age 34, b Mar 1866, KY, md 13 yr, wife Phebie C. ORRANGE, b. Jun 1866, KY, md 13 yr; dau Manervie J. ORRANGE, age 1, b. Apr 1899, KY, plus other children); in 1910 US Census for Ohio Co, KY: Minerva J. Orange, b. KY, age 11, dau of Joseph A. Orange. Joseph Aquila ORANGE was md to Phoebe Catherine BYERS 18 Sep 1887 in Butler Co, KY (Marr Rec Bk for Butler Co, KY). Phoebe Catherine (BYERS) ORANGE d. 9 Jul 1953 in Sebree, Webster Co, KY (Death Cert & Obit).
I believe Joseph A. was the son of Joseph G. ORANGE and Rebecca Minerva Francis TRAIL (his 2nd or possibly 3rd wife), md 14 Jan 1866, Logan Co, KY (Marr Rec of Logan Co, KY). Rebecca later married John G. STATEN, 13 Jan 1870, Butler Co, KY (IGI Index). In the 1870 US census for Butler Co KY, Rebecca STATEN, age 25, John STATEN, age 24, and Acrilla STATEN, age 5, F [sic] are listed in the household of Mary BEASLEY, age 65; a Mary BEASLEY, age 9, is also in the household. I believe Acrilla is actually Joseph Aquila ORANGE, male. In 1880 Rebecca STATEN, widow, age 36, is head of household with 4 STATEN children, plus Josephus A. STATEN, age 14, whom I believe was actually Joseph Aquila ORANGE, the Joseph A. ORANGE in the 1900 census as described above. In 1900 Rebecca SHERMAN, age 55, widow, is living with her son, John STATEN.
I believe Joseph G ORANGE was probably the son of Byrd ORANGE and Rebecca MOSS.
Minerva ORANGE md Henry PICKETT; their first 2 children were born in Bell Co, KY: Opal, 18 Feb 1919 and Otto, 18 Feb 1920 (KY Birth Index).
They had 5 other children: Joseph, Russell, Pauline, Helen and Donald (Info from Sally Dobbs). I could not find these children in KY Index, so possibly they moved to TN after birth of Otto.
According to Sally, Minerva later md Charles A. DOBBS and they had a son Charles Kelley DOBBS.
Minerva died sometime after 29 Aug 1973 as she is listed as a survivor (Mrs. Minerva PICKETT) in the obituary of her brother William Austin ORANGE.
