Hi Cynthia:
He seems to be quite an interesting man. I found him in the 1900 census living in Baker City with his daughter Francis E., born March 1865, age 35 , single , born Germany.
Phillip J. was listed as widower age 63, owns his house, free from mortgage, and has a lodger living with them.
In 1910 he was in Portland on Mississippi Ave, still with daughter Francis who is single age 45. He lists his occupation as merchant of a grocery store.
In the Mt Calvary Cemetery history he was listed as this:
The Zeller stone across the road, and to the right, is an eight sided marble beauty. Phillip J. Zeller (1838-1910) was an early day Portland grocer with a store on the corner of Fremont and Mississippi. [22] He founded Zeller Mortuary in 1904. Zeller Chapel of the Roses is a direct descendant.
Hope this helps.
Laura
