Estell M. Hixson

Funeral for Estell M. Hixson, a carpenter, will be at 11 am Thursday in the Gable Funeral Home. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa, Idaho

Mr. Hixson, who lived at 1101 SE 148th Ave., was born Sept. 2, 1895, in Durkee, Ore. He moved to Portland 30 years ago from Nampa. He died of cancer Tuesday at the age of 78.

A World War I veteran, he was a member and past commander of American Legion post 163. He also was a member of Carpenters Union Local 226, and for many years worked as a carpenter and cabinetmaker at Morningside Hospital.

Mr. Hixson is survived by his wife, Alice A.; three brothers, Ernest of Baker, Fred of Cheney, Wash., and Ted of Canyon City and five sisters; Ida Henley of Chehalis, Wash., Velma Relling of Bremerton, Wash., Margaret Gifford of South Dakota and Zora Howard and Anna Yates of Nampa.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the American Cancer Society or the youth fund of the American Legionís Rose City Post.

Funeral for Alice Amanda Hixson, who died Tuesday in a Portland area convalescent home, will be a 11 a.m. Friday in Gable funeral Home. Concluding service and interment will be in Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa, Idaho.

Mrs. Hixson, who was 79, was a retired bookkeeper and had lived in Portland area 40 years. She was a native of Erie, Kan.

She was active with the American Legion auxiliary and was a member of the Lifegate Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sisters, Margaret W. Brassey of Nampa, Idaho, Dorothy M. Bordner of Ontario and Marylee Arent of Milwaukie.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the American Cancer society.

Mrs. Lena E. Johnson
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Little Chapel of the Chimes for Mrs. Lena Ellen Johnson, 3947 NE 67th Ave., who died Friday at Providence Hospital. Mrs. Johnson was born in Nesho, Kan., March 23, 1874, and came to Portland 35 years ago from Nampa, where she had lived 19 years. She was affiliated with the Townsend Club, the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the George Wright Womenís Relief Corps and the Golden Years Club.

Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Winifred Brassey, Nampa; Mrs. Alice Hickson, Portland; Marian Bordner, Ontario and Marylee Arent, Milwaukie; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Leach, Sunnyside and two brothers, John and Charles Wikle, McAllister, N.M.

Interment was in Nampa, Idaho. No cemetery listed.
