The Sunday Oregonian, Portland, Oregon, 14 January 1917, section 2, page 6, Funeral Notices.
"HOLCOMB -- At Troutdale, January 12, Ephriam B. Holcomb, aged 82 years, 5 months and 3 days, beloved husband of Elizabeth C. Holcomb and father of Everett O. Holcomb, of this city. The funeral will be held in the Conservatory Chapel of the East Side Funeral Directors, 414 East Alder street, tomorrow (Monday), January 15, at 2 P. M. Friends invited. Interment in Multnomah Cemetery."
(Research Note: the number of days listed in Ephriam's age looks like 3 but could be 8.)

The Sunday Oregonian, Portland, Oregon, 14 February 1932, section 2, page 4, Funeral Notices.
"HOLCOMB -- At 7511 64th ave., S. E., Feb. 12, Elizabeth C. Holcomb, aged 89 years, beloved mother of Everett O. Holcomb of Portland. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 15, at 10 A. M., at the Chapel of the Mt. Scott Funeral Home, Foster road at 59th st. Interment Multnomah Cemetery."

Because the funeral notice listed the 1917 death in Troutdale, a small community just east of Portland, I also went to the library in Gresham (a small town east of Portland). It has the newspaper called the "Gresham Outlook" on microfilm, published twice a week in 1917. The Gresham Outlook printed a small column on the news of Troutdale in almost every issue. I looked at every page of the newspaper, not just the Troutdale column, from the week that would have reported Ephraim's death, 16 January, through 2 February 1917. I didn't find an obituary, notice of death or funeral.

I'm not a member of this family.
