My Grandfathers first family drowned in the flood. He was sent out from Indiana/Kentucky at the age of Sevan on an orphan train. His parents had died in a flue epidemic. At the time of the flood he was rounding up cattle. He also had a butcher shop in Hepner with his bil. He met my Grandmother in a Red Cross tent after the flood. His first family is buried in the Arlington Cemetary.
