Joseph Deal in Heppner

I am trying to learn more regarding a murder committed in Heppner back in 1891. Joseph Deal was convicted of manslaughter for the crime, but no details of the incident have been found. Joe was sent to Salem to the Or. State Prison and released for exceptionally good behavior in 1897. Gov. Lord gave him a full pardon in 1898. Others involved may have been Mr. Rey and a Mr. Bare, who were in the Heppner jail along with Mr. Deal at that time.
