where was the flood in 1948? looking for Aunt Karen/Catrine born 1861 in Denmark
I know this is a long shot BUT maybe someone can help! I'm looking for my Great-great-aunt Karen. She was born in Skandrerup Denmark July 27, 1861. Her name in the church records was Caterine Hansen. Being Danish it is not uncommon to change her name to Karen after her mother. Her father was Hans Ebersen and motherKaren Jensdatter. I do not know when she came to the US. Her parents, two brothers and a sister went to Muskegon Co. MI. Karen may have went there too and lader moved on.
Now the flood part of the story. On Aug. 9, 1948 I had two another Aunts writing to each other and one asked about their Aunt Karen. This is the quote "you asked about Aunt Karen from Oregon, we had a nice letter from her after the flood. They lived on the opposite side of the city from where the flood was and did not touch them. She said it was so bad so many people made homeless and destitute."
We do not have a town in Oregon or a last name for her. We are sure she was married.Anything would help!
