Richard Allen "Arnie" Arnholt, 83, died Jan. 4, 2002, of natural causes at his Klamath Falls residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd with Pastor Mark Posthuma officiating and full military honors provided by Pelican Post No. 1383, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. Friday in Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd.
Mr. Arnholt was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Loudonville, Ohio, to Curtis and Eunice (Stout) Arnholt.
The military was his career.
He served over a 30-year period during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged as a gunnery sergeant from the Marine Corps.
His wife, Ada, also served in the military as member of the Navy during World War II. She preceded him in death on May 11, 1999, and was interred at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Among Mr. Arnholt's interests were camping, traveling in his motorhome or van, fishing, and building such things as boats and cabinets.
Survivors include his children, Patty Merrick and Steven and Mike Arnholt, all of Klamath Falls; six grandchildren; sister, Martha Wachtel of Loudonville; sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Bub Rohrbaugh of Loudonville; and numerous other relatives.
