Do you have the 'paid' subscription to Ancestry.com??? If so, I found a good family TREE.........although I dont believe they are aware of the tragedy that befell this family. Lots of good info thou. Let me know, if not I will ask permission to send it to you. OR, I can link it to you but it has to go direct to your email
MARSHA, Thanks, I would appreciate it if you would send that "Tree" to me. Feel free to e-mail me.I can't afford Ancestry.Com.
I think Genealogy is addictive because of stories like this one about the hardships our Pioneers experenced on a daily basis. Can you imagine what those parents endured that day knowing that all their children had drowned and their bodies were swept away never to be found? Somehow they found the strength to carry on and start a new family.God blessed them with two more children.
A similar thing happened in my Applegate family when they came to Oregon. Two of their young sons were drowned in a river crossing. That made the three Applegate brothers forge "The Applegate Trail" as they looked for a safer route west.
I am truly fascinated at the strength of those people who lived through that period in history. Abels mother Mary Gregg George hid her children from a band of Indians in a cave in Knox Co., OH.in 1812 with the hope they would remain unharmed.
Thank you for your interest and your help . I really appreciate it. Nancy
