looking for Missouri Boshears
It has been some time since I have searched for my Boshears.
I am from the Lewis County, Tennessee Boshears. My Great Great Grandfather was James S. Boshears. I have still yet to find out what the S. stands for.
I have found James birth 1820 in Carter County, Missouri. He had at least 3 children that I am aware of. He was married to an Elizabeth, who was my Great Great Grandmother. not sure of her maiden name.
Sons were Thomas and Rodney. A daughter Amanda Jane.
Rodney was my Great Grand father. He lived and died in Ripley County, Missouri. He is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery off highway 21. This is where most of my Boshears family is buried. Rodney had several sons. John who married a Stack (she died young) They had two sons. These sons made there home in Michigan with their families. John remarried and had a son and two daughters and they made their homes in Oklahoma. Lewis made his home as well in Michigan. Ezra who was in trouble with the law quit often is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery. Walter grew up and raised a family in Ripley County and as well is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery. Byron left the area for Washington State where he raised his family. Albert took his family to Hutchinson, Kansas where he stayed till he passed on. A daughter Oceana moved to San Diego, California. She married a gentleman much older than her. he was a Murray. My Grandfather was Achibald C. Boshears. He worked in the oil fields for some time. He also worked at an E.E. Cafe in Keifer, Oklahoma in 1909.
He was listed as a Teamster, no other information. He was married at that time to my Grandmother. to the best of my knowledge he left my Grandmother, never divorced and married another lady. He lived in Oklahoma for some time. He was never accepted by my Grandmother nor by most of the children that they had together. I do believe that my Dad knew what happened to him, but the subject of his Dad only came up once with me. Right before my dad died I had asked him what had happened to his Dad. He told me then that he was sure that he was dead. My Dad stayed in close touch with his cousin who was a Boshears as well. I believe they kept all of it quiet to avoid upsetting my grandmother. It has been stated that he turned his life around and became a Preacher. His father Rodney was a Preacher. so it is not hard for me to accept this possiblity. I have one picture of him , which appears to be a possible wedding picture of him with my grandmother. My aunt told me that he named a son from the other family JacK- James . This would also be the name of my Uncle.
All the Boshears in my family for the most part in his original family have passed away. I am the last one of us that has any interest at all. Rodney had a son by his 1st marriage. His Name was James. Rodney first married Eda Jane Rodgers. not sure what happened to her or James. he then married my great Grandmother who was Margaret Patterson.
I have alway thought there was a possibility that Margaret had family in Oklahoma. It appears that There was a lot of travel to that state.
If anyone could help fill in the blanks I would greatly appreciate it. I expect the 1940 census when it comes out will shed some light on where he went.
As I stated all the children from my Grandmother are gone now.
Thanks for any help.
BJ
