To answer the "suggestion" of the other person... She was 9 years old in 1930 at the time of census, living in McIntosh County, OK. You CAN NOT start looking for marriage records in this county just because she was there in 1930. The FIRST thing you must do, if you don't already have this information, is to find or identify her FULL date of birth. The 1930 census was enumerated April 8, 1930. If she was 9 at the time, she could have been born any time between April 9, 1920 and April 7, 1930. Since most of that period is in 1920, there is a bigger chance she was born in 1920. GET HER FULL DOB. That is the BEST starting point. She could have been married ANYWHERE. She could have divorced anywhere. She may be still alive, although you indicated (Below) she had died. The 1930 Census for Ryals, McIntosh Co, OK Elson (as transcribed) E. Fraser, 36 Viola M, 33 Dela M, 9 Hazel L 7 Grace L 5 James C 3 5/12 Ala G 10/12. All born in OK, mother born in Arkansas. A family tree posted on Ancestry.com by wondernanny1, living in Stigler, OK, Fosslin_rocks@yahoo.com http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/person.aspx?pid=-1753885735&tid=3278697&ssrc= identifies basically the same information as you provided. You apparently are this person. You identified for Delia "Mom says she died of a brain tumor". Was "mom" related? If she is not still alive, are there other family members that may be alive. If not, obtain their obituaries. Sometimes the location of family members are found in the obits. Do you have access to any old address books, photo albums, family records? If so, check them out, look at the back of photo's. Look at "tourist" type pictures, or home photo's. Look for any old letters and envelopes. The California Marriage Index shows a Delia M. Melton, age 40, born about 1921, marriage on 13 Jan 1961 in San Bernardino County to a John H. Matushek, age 43, born about 1918. This couple divorced in April 1967. The California Death Index shows a Delia M. Stubblefield, born 27 December 1921, died 5 March 1994 in Humboldt County, CA. The Social Security Death Index shows death in Arcata, Humboldt County. Her SSN 444-12-6314 was issued in Oklahoma before 1951. I am ONLY posting the above as this person matches basic search criteria. If the DOB matches, then you can look further. Otherwise, hold the info until such time as you can eliminate or further research. IF, the DOB matches, obtaining this persons application for Social Security Number (SS-5) would identify her maiden name. If "she died of a brain tumor", she may have died earlier in life than later. Genealogy research is like a crime scene. Look for ALL the clues and document them all. Start at the initial scene, her birth place. Document her date of birth, family members, etc. Interview the witnesses (family members). Obtain documentary evidence (birth certificates, obituaries of parents and siblings). I have seen so many "think" someone lived somewhere, but they were found somewhere else. Step by step investigation. Ron Bestrom Notify Administrator about this message?
