Looking for family conected to John Montgomery who was born in Indiana in the year of 1830 and married an Elizabeth Herring daughter of Nehemiah Green Herring. John and Elizabeth were married in Nodaway County Missouri in 1856. Elizabeth remarried in 1877 in illinois after the death of John. John and Elizabeth were in the 1870 census of Pike county, Illinois town of Chambersburg. John died somewhere between 1870 and 1877.
John and elizabeth had a daughter Sarah A. montgomery who is buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Sangamon County,illinois. Elizabeth is also buried in the same cemetery under the name of Elizabeth Birks. there is also a son which is listed as Newman in one census and nehemiah in another. I believe at some point that the son must have changed his name to Maries Forbes Montgomery.He died in 1943 and is buried in Belle Passi Cemetery in Oregon.
