Judy, thanks for your reply. Joseph Sears was born in Sonoma County, CA, his mother, I believe was born in MO. You are right about the John & Darkus (sic) Sears family abd that is he that is listed. The parents died and I have been trying to find out what happened to the children. I have found where the two oldest girls married and then they disappear off the map. The other children, Frances Ann, Thomas & Joseph all disappear. James was killed in NV in 1863, that I know for a fact. I have been trying to find these children and I wonder if the Joseph I find in OR is the right one, his birth date corresponds. I also find a Joseph Sears in the Baker Co., OR penetentiary. I had hoped to find an obit for him, but, I just don't know, this has been the longest search I have ever had and I don't know if it is really worth while. Thanks. Margaret
