Hi Gerald, I found John C. Simpson and family living in 1880 in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO. John C., b. OH, 40, wholesale ____; Nettie, wife, b. MO, 27; Harry, son, b. IL, 16, dry goods clerk; Mary, b. KS, 9 and John b. MO, 6. Well John definitely died after the 1880 Census which should help you locate his death date. Also, I'd say he was married before Nettie because of son Harry's age. In 1920 Nettie and son were living in Kansas City Ward 6, Wyandotte Co., KS. They indexed her as Nellie & it looks like Nellie on the Census. Nellie, b. MO, 68, head household, widow; John C., b. MO, 46, single, freight trucker railroad; Joe Allen, nephew, 50, MO, shipping clerk ____ Co. In 1930 Nettie and John were living in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. John C., head household, b. MO, 54, single, laborer woolen mill; and Nettie J. mother, widow, b. MO, 77. I also found info on Harry M. Simpson and family living in 1910 in Chicago Ward 32, Cook Co., IL. Harry M., b. IL, 47, marr @ 25, clerk Post Office; wife Edith M., b. IL, 46, had given birth to 7 children & only one was alive in 1910; Howard A. b. IL, 8. In 1920 Harry and family were living in Chicago. Harry, b. IL, 55, cashier federal government; May R., wife, b. IL, 44; Mary L. Cok, motherlaw, b. OH, 66, widow; Helen Spate, roomer; and Howard Simpson, b. IL, 17. In 1930 the family is still livingin Chicago. Harry M., b. IL, 67, special clerk Post Office; May R., b. IL, 55; Howard S., b. IL, 28, single, order clerk packing house; Mary L. Cox, motherlaw, b.
