Hi Marlon, I found Nils and family in the Houlton, Columbia Co., OR 1910 Census. Nils, b. Denmark, 44, immigrated in 1892 and naturalized before 1910, hotel public, 1st marr, married abt. 10 yrs; wife Mary, b. MN, 29, had given birth to 4 children all alive in 1910; Irene A., b. MN, 9; Alte E., b. MN, 8; Mabel M., b. OR, 6; and Klema W., b. OR, son, 9/12ths.
In 1920 the family was living in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR. Nels, b. Denmark, 52, immigrated in 1907 and naturalized in 1912, truck driver paper co; Mary, b. MN, 39; Irnee, b. MN, 19, single, taper paper co; Alta, b. MN 17; Mabel, b. OR, 15 and Klema, b. OR, 11.
In 1930 the family was living in Portland. Nels, b. Denmark, 63, immigrated 1898 and naturalized by 1930, laborer furniture store; Mary b. MN, 47, married @ 19; Mabel M., b. OR, 24, fountain girl confectionary store; Klema, b. OR, 22, single, truck driver; Mary Monaghan "her daughter", b. OR 7. I couldn't tell exactly whose daughter Mary Monaghan was.
The last Census viewable to the public at this time was taken in 1930. I assume the Irene and Alta married after the 1920 but before the 1930 Census in Portland. Check out www.raogk.org, choose Oregon, choose Multnomah Co. for a volunteer to look up their marriage license #.
Klema W. Mathisen, d. Multnomah Co. 16 Jan 1967 per death cert #1015; spouse=Margare. Source: OR Death Index.
I think you need copies of Nels, Mary and Klema's death certs to help trace descendants. Check out www.raogk.org, choose Oregon, choose Multnomah Co. for a volunteer to look these up.
Since you know Mary died in Portland I think you can get hers from Central Library, Portland, 503-988-5123, www.multcolib.org. Happy Hunting!
