SMITH, DR. CLARK, of Cornelius, was born in Greenup, Illinois, January 16, 1843. He came to Oregon in 1864, and graduated from the Texas Medical College. HE practiced in Texas, Mexico, and Kansas, engaged in educational work, and was pastor of the Methodist church in Tulare, California. He went as medical missionary to Central Africa, returning in 1886 and locating as a physician in Cornelius., Oregon. In 1888 he was elected County School Superintendent, and again in 1890. He has been a member of conventions and president of the Cornelius Club.
