Hi Peggy, R. and N. F. Crabtree & family appear in the 1889 Whitman Co., WA Census. They might have been in the 1885 and 1887 Census but I can't read them. R. b. MO, 38; N. F., female, 36, b. OR; Bertha, b. OR, 12; Leonard, b. Wash. Territory; and Maud, b. Wash. Terr. 7.

In 1900 the family lived in South Colfax, Whitman Co., WA. Robert, b. Sept. 1850, MO, marr 25 yrs, 49, farmer; Nancy F., b. OR, April 1855, given birth to 3 children who are alive in 1900; Leonard M., b. Wash. Terr., Jan 1871, single, farm laborer; and Maude M. b. May 1882, Wash. Terr.

In 1910 the Dickey and Crabtree families are living together in Colfax Ward 3, Whitman Co. Bertha Dickey, head household, widow, b. OR, 32, given birth to 4 children who are alive in 1910; keeper boarding house; Zula R., dau, b. WA, 7; Melvin Dickey, b. WA, 6; Glenn Dickey, b. WA, 5, Robert W., b. WA, 1 9/12ths, Robert Crabtree, b. MO, 59, own income, Nancy F., b. OR, 66, had given birth to 3 children & 2 are alive in 1910. Other 4 people are boarders.

In 1920 Robert, Nancy and Robert are still living in Colfax. Robert, b. MO, 68, no occupation; Nancy b. OR, 66; and Robert, grandson, b. WA, 11.

Robert Dickey's last residence was Colfax, Whitman Co., WA. He was b. 12 June 1908 and his last benefit check was mailed to Colfax. He d. July 1977. His soc. sec. # was assigned in WA before 1951. Source: Social Security Death Index which anyone can access at no charge.

Check out http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx to get a copy of his obituary or any obituary in WA State.
