Thanks for the information on the changing County boundaries in the area of Five Rivers. That answers why one of the dtrs. is shown in the LDS Ancestoral File as born in Alsea rather than a Lincoln County town or city.

Do you know if BLM data on homestead claims for this area is accessible on the WWW?

Interesting you should mention a Post Office at Fisher. One of the Hansen boys - Tony -was said to have carried the mail on horseback in that area. I'll check on that book - Oregon Geographical Names. Did the information on the post office come out of this book?

What newspaper provided local news coverage in that area of Oregon in the past? At present?
