Hi Arlynda:

I know that you stated that you have a copy of a newspaper article regarding his death, but do you have this one?

The Oregonian (Portland, OR) September 9, 1895 Page 4
News of the Northwest
John Harper, an old man and an inmate of the Lane County poorhouse, died there Friday of a paralytic stroke. A curious feature of the case was that Harper had deeded the county 131 acres of land on condition that it kept him at the poorhouse as long as he lived. This was ?? years ago last May. The county has the land, and its agreement to Harper has been kept.

Looking into the land records should tell you exactly where his property was located...and possibly his burial site?

Case# 14098
Name Harper, John
Date 1859
Record Type Tax roll
County Lane
Source Provisional and Territori
Identifier
Remarks Assessment roll
