W. M. Johnston died at his residence in their city Saturday evening, October 9, 1909, aged 48 years, 7 months and 24 days, of consumption. Mr. John had been in failing health for nearly two years, and while his death has been expected for some time past, it was quite a shock to the community nevertheless.
Services were held at residence by Rev. Hamm Monday afternoon and the remains were interred in Odd Fellows cemetery.
Mr. Johnston was well known in this community, as he has resided here for a number of years. He formerly owned the farm now occupied by Clarence Koon. After removing to this city he engaged in the livery business, but of late has not been in active work.
He is survived by his wife and four children. He carried a certificate of $2000 in the Woodmen of the World and $1000 in the Modern Woodmen, members of which orders served as pallbearers. He owned considerable town property and was a well-to-do and energetic citizen. Junction City Times Oct. 16, 1909 Junction City, Oregon
