George Bryant died at his home at Franklin, Oregon, Wednesday, August 19, 1903, of congestion of the brain, aged 78 years, 3 months and 3 days. He was buried in the Inman cemetery Friday, Rev. Richardson, of Eugene, conducting the ceremony.
He was born at Oxfordshire, England, and came to America in 1852 and settled in Iowa. He was married in Taylor county to Miss Sarah J. Smith, who survives him.
There are nine living children, all of whom are grown, as follows: Mrs. C.C. Crane and Mrs. J. A. Richardson, of Franklin; Mrs. S.A. Butler, of Little Shasta, California; N. J., W.F., G.N., Edward, Clarence and Tony C. All were present at the funeral except Edward, who is [in] Idaho, and Mrs. S.A. Butler.
He was a Lane county pioneer and crossed the plains to Oregon with his wife in 1864 and settled on the farm where [he] died. He lived a Christian life and was justly proud of his family. He was a stalwart democrat and there is perhaps no man in this end of the county more widely and favorable known and was a highly respected and honorable citizen.
