Mrs. Malissa M Brabham, wife of Thos. J Brabham, died at their home six miles northwest of here, February 7, 1910, aged 70 years, 7 months, and 3 days. She was born July 4, 1839, at Beverly, Ohio. She lived with her parents until she was 16 years old when her mother passed away, leaving a family of small children for her to care for which she did kindly and nobly, kept house for her father and cared for the children, until she was 25 years of age when she took charge of Thomas J Brabhamís family of small children who had been left motherless by the death of their mother, who passed away February 6, 1864, while their father was still a soldier in the civil war, and upon his return on a furlough to look after his children.
Thomas J Brabham was married to Melissa M Burris March 23, 1864. March 4, 1865, they moved to Illinois, and in 1876, they moved to Kansas. To this union was born seven children, four of whom survive. Came to Oregon September 24, 1888.
She was a good Christian, having joined the ME Church when only 12 years of age. Services were held in Gordonís undertaking parlors, Eugene, February 9th by Dr. Trimble, and at the grave by the ladies of the G.A.R. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
