Our citizens were greatly shocked and surprised Friday evening to learn that G. W. Adkins was found dead in his bed. Thursday he complained of thematic pains in his chest, but aside from this he was enjoying his usual health. J. T. Kirk called at his residence Friday morning and found the house closed. He was informed by some one that Mr. Adkins had gone to the country. Miss Ida Adkins who makes her home with Mr. Kirk, became alarmed and at her instigation Mr. Kirk and others broke in the door Friday evening and found him dead in his bed. He evidently died without a struggler as his arms were crossed on his breast. Mr. Adkins was 72 years old and was a fine old man. He was one of the trustees of the M. E. Church, South, and lived an upright life. Services were held Sunday at 10 oíclock by Rev. Farland. The remains were interred in Baker Cemetery.
