Hi Deanna, I found Rufus and Marietta Grisswell living with the Bearden family in 1870 in District 13, Giles Co., TN. Seaborn J. Bearden, head household, b. SC, 55 yrs old, house carpenter; Hannah P., wife, b. SC, 51; Narcissa C., b. TN, 19; Andrew J., b. TN, 16, farm laborer; Rufus B. Grisswell, b. TN, 11, farm laborer and Marietta Grisswell, b. TN. 9.

The Bearden family was living in the same County in 1860, however, Rufus and Marietta weren't living with them.

In 1880 Seaborn Bearden was living in East Kittitas, Yakima Co., WA with his daughter Susan and her family. William Harris, head household, b. IN, 40 yrs old, farmer; Susan, b. TN, 36; Clementine, b. IA, 12; Giles, b. IA, 9; James, b. CA, 7; Charles, b. CA, 5; Layfaette (son), b. CA, 3; Thomas, b. OR, 2; Seborn Bearden, fatherlaw, b. SC, 67, carpenter and Edward Thurston, boarder, b. IN, 30.

A Rafus B. Grisel was living in 1910 in North Warner, Lake Co., OR. This name was corrected on the Ancestory index to Rufus B. Rafus B., b. TN, 48 yrs old, 1st marr; Ella Grisel, b. MN, 41, had given birth to 5 children & all alive in 1910; Myrtle Grisel, b. CA, 10.

Then I found a Rufus B. Grissel who died in Lake Co. 6 Sept 1915 per death cert 6647. Source: OR Death Index.

I didn't find anything for Marietta.

It seems that the big question is is this Rufus the same Rufus who lived with the Bearden family in TN. You could order a copy of his obituary and see if it mentions the Bearden family.

I know of two sources for Lake County. Oregon Library System, www.oregonlibraries.net/ choose Lake County. OLS seems to charge from $5 to $15/obit.

Another choice is the University of Oregon, http://libweb.uoregon.edu/general/gethelp.htm/. They charge $30/hr research with a $7.50 minimum which is what it cost me that last time I requested an obit. Hope this helps. Successful Hunting!
