In the books "Mill Creek journal" by Kay Atwood your Daniel is mentioned he was elected to represent jackson county at constitotion convention june 1 1857, he was elected to the legislative assembly june 7, 1858.
In the book"They Settled in Applegate Country" By Olga Johnson there is quite a bit of information about the Newcomb family
in the Book "Ruch and the upper applegate valley" by John and marguerite Black they are mentioned in a couple of places. i do not see the parents of Eleanor mentioned in any of the articles.
