Wilkinson White, the well known pioneer of Papersack, died at his home fifteen miles northeast from this city last Sunday afternoon in his 80th year.
Deceased was born in Lincolnshire, England, January 8, 1926. He came to America (a)nd to Oregon, in the fall of 1878 and settled at once on the ranch on which he died that being his home for twenty-seven years. With his son, the late C W White, he engaged in the stock business and the firm was very successful in that line. The White homestead was known far and wide for it's free-handed and open-hearted hospitality and during the son's lifetime and before the father was stricken by infirmities of age, the eighth day of January in each year was a gala day which will long be remembered by hosts of friends and neighbors of the family. The occasion was the birthday of the elder White and as long as the son lived the date nevery passed unobserved. Mr. White was genial, kindly, generous and true and by all his neighbors and acquaintances was ever held in highest esteem.
The funeral took place Monday interment being in the family burying ground on the home ranch on Papersack.
