Hi Flora, I found Jennie and her first husband John E. Colwell in the 1892 Walla Walla Co., WA Census. John E., b. MN, 37, gardner? (hard to read); Jennie, b. MO, abt. 1865; Edith, b. WA, 5; Harry, b. WA, 3; and Elmer, b. WA, 1.
In 1900 they are living in Bonners Ferry, Kootenai Co., ID. John b. Aug 1856, MN, 43, ____ salesman; Jennie, b. April 1866, MO, 34, had given birth to 4 children & 4 alive in 1900; Edith M., b. WA Terr., 13; Harry E., b. Sept. 1888, Wash. Terr; Leon b. WA, Sept. 1890 and Gladys N., b. WA, Dec. 1895.
Since the 1890 Census was destroyed in a fire that leaves a large gap. Obviously John died before 1910. If you're interested I'd check Kootenia Co., ID or Douglas Co., OR (www.rootsweb.com.com/~ordougla/).
I did find Elbert & Jennie Owens & Jennie's children in 1910 but they seem to disappear after that. I'd check Douglas County Oregon web site, www.rootsweb.com/~ordougla/ and Cemeteries of Douglas County, OR, www.interment.net/us/or/douglas.htm. Successful Hunting!
