Janice,
Yes, the Molalla Pioneer, a weekly newspaper normally issued on Thursdays, has been published since well before the 1970s. Address is P.O. Box 168, Molalla, OR 97038 and phone is 503-829-2301. In addition, in the 1970s the Oregon City Enterprise-Courier, and the [Portland] Oregon Journal, both dailies, were still being published [though they no longer exist] and are available on microfilm at the Oregon City Public Library and the Multnomah County [Portland] Central library -- I have had good luck finding obituaries in the Enterprise-Courier which were never in the Oregonian.
