I am having one devil of a time finding anything on Effie. Her maiden name was Hilts, she was born in Michigan, married John Flynn (he was born in Watertown, NY) and was living in Spokane Falls, WA at the time of John's death (Dec. 1887). The next I see of her is in the 1900 Census for Baker Co., OR. She is listed as a widow with one child, who was not living with her in 1900. She was living with an Arthur ????(can't read the writing on the census). Whomever he was, he was listed at a Laundryman, head of house, b May, 1871 and single. Effie was listed as "partner" and she was a laundress.
After 1900, she disappears. I have searched the Oregon Death Index on Ancestry.com, but can't find her. If anyone might have any information, I would love to hear from you.
