This is the hardest family to get information on. I have a tintype picture that belonged to my grandmother Sarah Opry Dossey's sister and under it was written John M. Opry. I always thought it was a brother. But from all the information it was probably their uncle. The information handed down to me was that John M. and George were fighting in the Civil war in Ark. His wife and children came to Texas during the war and settled close to Groesbeck. There are still some living here, but I have not had a chance to get to know them. Could this be correct. John M. Opry applied for a pension in Ark. I did not know if he ever came to Texas or not. Would someone have more information. You see I knew my grandmother quite well as she lived to be 94, but I failed to ask her about her family.
