Dale,
Thanks for the reply.
Where did "Schleswig-Holstein" come from?
I thought all the references were to "Elburg"
Holland?
Since I posted that message, I ordered that
Jean Opdycke Dreher book and received it.
Excellent work on her part and includes all
those illustrations that I had asked about.
My ancestors are shown in all three of the
books that I've now collected on "Updike".
Sarah Updike my 3rd great grandma is shown
in all three as married to 1)John "McCabe"
and 2)Govey Brown. John "McCabe" should read
as John "McCAVE", and I've proved that out
through the records of Hampshire County WV
where they lived after moving there from
Loudoun County, Va. Part of the proof at a
minimum is that John is shown correctly as
"McCave", and it takes at least several life
times to run into another GOVEY Brown eh?
I also bought the book "To Battle For God
And The Right" with a great picture of the
Brevet Major General sitting with none other
than Arthur MacArthur and other regimental
commanders belonging to his Brigade. Arther
is the father of Douglas MacArthur.
Richard B. Weber
