i'm starting my search for my family the updike's. the name has changed several times before my family came to america. the name ment "up by the dyke"also told to me as the "people by the dyke" if any one can help i would be very happy.so far i went back to Clark Updike who married a Sara unknown. they had a son named Joseph updike . i can not get pass Clark.he last was said to live in elmira n.y. their son Joseph is buried in elmira.. with his son infant updike. thanks for any help
