Origin of Tazewell/KY Oneys: NOT R.I.

In a wonderful, recent piece of self-published work, "The Oney Family of Kentucky," Elden Oney has convinced me that Benjamin Oney (b.1699, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, Eng.) who married (1733, Philadephia) Anne Wilson was THE origin of the Tazewell Co., VA/southeast KY Oneys. Elden effectively suggests that Benjamin's father was probably also "Benjamin"; that Oneys arrived in Wellingborough about 1624; that Benjamin emigrated from Wellingborough as an indentured servant in 1719; and that he did NOT descend from the Rhode Island "Olney" family as many believe. If anyone has evidence to the contrary OTHER than the 1889 genealogy, I'd like to hear it. FYI: I descend TWICE from William Oney (1788-1862)=Sarah Brown.
