I have a Bridget O'Neill/Oniel in my family tree. She was married to THOMAS FINNEGAN/FINEGAN. Most sources say they were both originally from Ireland, however, they lived in England for some time before coming to the US. Their son (my gr-gf), THOMAS JOSEPH FINNEGAN, was b. 9 Apr 1889 Watertown, SD. d. 8 May 1943, Sioux City, IA. His sister MARY FINNEGAN was born in 1865 in WEST AUKLAND, CO. DURHAM, ENGLAND. In 1880, the family left England and moved to Altamont, Deuel County, South Dakota. They later settled in Watertown, South Dakota. She married JAMES MILES CASEY (b abt 1860 PA, lived in Waseca, MN, d 25 Jan 1925 in Watertown, SD) Mary died in Watertown, SD in 1943. Her obit says she was preceeded in death by parents, husband, 12 brothers and sisters and several children so this is a fairly large Finnegan line!
I'm hoping someone recognizes this information and has more information on Bridget O'Neill/Oniel and Thomas Finnegan. I'm trying to find where they were from in Ireland before my upcoming trip to Dublin in Mar 08!
