O'Neills of 19th Century Philadelphia
I am the son of Thomas Michael O'Neill born in Philadelphia in January of 1900.
His father's name was William "Billy" O'Neill born in Philadelphia c. 1850. He was a wool buyer. He married Mary Scanlan of County Kerry. They had three Children, William, Thomas, and Elizabeth. Elizabeth became a Sacret Heart nun, and eventually Mother Superior of Sacret Heart College. All childeren stayed in the Philidelphia are until their deaths.
Willian's Father's name was Michael Alowisious O'Neill born c. 1820 in either Philidelphia or Ireland.
Does anyone know of this branch of the O'Neill family, and where and when they first came to the UNited States from Ireland?
Thanks,
Hugh O'Neill
