My O'Neills also came to Pennsylvania I believe around 1830. The first generation here was a Nicholas, his wife Mary and their children Nicholas, James, Martin, Mary and possibly an Edward.
I know very little information about Nicholas and Mary, but I have my line established directly to him through his son James, who was my great-grandmother's father.
My line is Nicholas, James, Kathryn, Margaret, Thomas, John and then myself.
I'm still trying to determine exactly what route they took to come to PA -- whether it was directly through Philadelphia or New York, or did they come down through Canada -- which seemed to be a common route at that time.
They were a farming family and there are still O'Neills in the area of Nicholas' old homestead.
