John O'Neal of Georgia (1800's)

I have been researching my family history and in a letter written by my great grandfather @ 1864 to my grandfather he mentioned the name John O'Neal. My family originated in Albany, Georgia. My great grandfather's name is (Dock) Nelson O'Neal. I have information that Dock later moved to Arkansas and again to Madison County, FL. (I'm not sure in which order). My grandfather Joseph O'Neal moved to Cleveland County, Arkansas. I suspect that John O'Neal may have been a slave owner. It appears that John O'Neal deeded land to my family in both Georgia and Arkansas. If you have any information that will help me along my search it would be greatly appreciated.
