Based on my two earlier posts, I am inclined to believe that the following might be a partial listing of persons who might be considered their children. Tentative sons: 1. Cornelius 2. John 3. James 4. George W. 5. William B. 6. Hardin 7. Christopher? and the tentative daughters: 1. Darcus 2. Margaret 3. Nancy 4. E.W. "Aby" 5. Mary George W. O'Neal named his children: 1. Jane, born 23 Jan 1829 2. Cornelius Majors O'Neal, b. 15 Oct 1832 3. William Hardin O'Neal, 19 May 1835 4. Sarah (Sallie) O'Neal, b. ca. 1836 5. Margaret O'Neal, b. 1839 6. Nancy S. O'Neal, b. ca. 1841 7. George R. O'Neal b. 1844 8. James L. O'Neal, b. 1847 9. John S. O'Neal, b. 1847 (twins) These names match quite well the names of his parents and siblings (as has been noted by others previously). Margaret O'Neal, wife of Tobias Long, named a daughter Elizabeth Jane Long, even though she already had one daughter named Elizann (or Eliza Ann in some records) Long. Hardin O'Neal named a daughter Elizabeth (or Betsy) Jane O'Neal. George W. O'Neal's daughter appears in records simply as Jane O'Neal (or, after marriage as Jane Keith). Her name is shown in some databases as Nancy Jane Keith but I doubt this name since George W. had another daughter named Nancy. It seems more likely that her full name might be Elizabeth Jane O'Neal and that all of these Elizabeth Janes were named after their grandmother Elizabeth (Jane?) Davis, wife of Robert O'Neal. Margaret O'Neal's children included: Robert, Elizabeth Jane, George W., Hardin, James, John O., Margaret, Mary, and Darcus. As I mentioned previously, Hardin O'Neal and Margaret's daughter Elizann Long (married to Elija Thomas) are listed next to each other in the 1840 McNairy Co. Census. Margaret and Tobias lived in Wood Co., Texas but two of their sons moved west to Erath Co., TX and are listed near George W. O'Neal in a census. Another interesting item is that there are two W.H. O'Neals listed next to each other (and to Cornelius O'Neal) in an Erath Co. Census. Even though their ages are close, the oldest is W.H. O'Neal "Sr." and the younger is W.H. O'Neal. I believe the younger of the two is William Hardin O'Neal, son of George W. O'Neal. The older of the two is shown born in ARKANSAS in the late 1820s. I think he may be one of the two males who show up in George W. O'Neal's household in 1840 and perhaps is a son of Cornelius O'Neal who presumably died in the 1830s. I have other miscellaneous information on the O'Neals but will stop at this point and get the reaction of O'Neal researchers to the Wilson Co. and Izard Co. O'Neals.
